The 5 Thinger:AMOLED Display

Many of you may have came across terms like "an IPS display" or an "OLED display" or an "AMOLED display" or an "Super AMOLED display".

Recently the Nexus 6 was announced and one thing that was significantly different between the N5 and the N6 was the display.
The N5 offers an IPS display whereas its successor has an AMOLED display.
So why did Motorola decide to go with an AMOLED display..??

These are the 5 reasons because of which Motorola rolled out the new N6 with an AMOLED display.

1.BATTERY USAGE

The N6 has a good battery life.So one of the major factors contributing to its long battery life is its display.
An LED IPS display needs a white back light for it to work. But an AMOLED doesn't. An OLED/AMOLED display consists of  very thin sheets of carbon and hydrogen  which are sandwiched between conductors and they start emitting light when an electric current is passed through them.

2.CONTRAST RATIO

Darker areas appear very dark and brighter areas appear very bright in an AMOLED display hence a great contrast ratio.Whereas in an IPS display darker areas need to be lit so that they appear dark.

3.FLEXIBILITY

AMOLED screens are flexible. They can be bend at any angle. So don't be surprised if the next nexus bends!

4.SPACE

AMOLED displays are very thin hence save a lot of space. So phones with AMOLED displays can be really sleek.

5.ECO-FRIENDLY

With increasing use of electronic devices one thing that is increasing is Pollution.
Motorola/Google are playing their part in saving the environment by using an AMOLED display.AMOLED stands for Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode.
"Organic" explains it all..!
