The IOS 8
Today i thought of shifting my focus from android to IOS and in this article i will be introducing you to the features of IOS 8 and my opinions on it.
Also IOS 8 will be released this autumn,so i am excited and lets see where it goes.
The IOS 8 is certainly not a big leap (in terms of design) from IOS 7 but Apple has added some nifty features which will surprise/excite the hardcore IOS users.
WIDGETS
I think this feature was introduced in Android long back and now the new IOS also supports widgets.Basically widgets are micro apps which sit on your phone's screen and display information which the user wants it to display.Widgets can be used to display Time,Date,Weather Conditions,Technical aspects like the free memory in your device,Used memory etc.
These are really helpful but they may slow down your phone a bit,and Iphones are high performance phones so lets see how it turns out.
INTERACTIVE NOTIFICATIONS
Another feature of android, introduced in IOS. Some android custom roms do have this feature and users really enjoy this feature as it adds an aesthetic look to your phone.When you get any notification a semi transparent panel slides down from top of the screen with the notification on it,thats how it works.
I really like this feature because it looks great and its really helpful.
IOS KEYBOARD
Android being open source,you have an option to replace your system apps with 3rd party apps. Now this is where it gets interesting.Till date IOS was sort of locked down and you really didn't have a choice but to use Apple's system apps but things are changing.Apple has now extended support to 3rd party keyboard apps,meaning now you can search the appstore download the keyboard app and then use it instead of the stock keyboard.Its awesome..!!
SIRI AND SPOTLIGHT UPDATES
Siri isnt new to IOS users and its one of the best voice command interpretation technology so far.
IOS 8 takes this technology to a higher level by increasing its stability and functionality.
Also Spotlight is upgraded and has become more reliable now.
CONTINUITY
The names quite heavy but its highly useful feature.So if you have a Mac and an iphone then you can syc data between the two.Say like if you have your phone nearby your Mac then the Mac senses it and then in the system tray you find an option of connecting your Mac to your phone.Also If you are writing anything on your phone and want to continue writing it on your Mac then you can use this new feature and then it will sync it for you and tell you from where to start.So its just like connecting your Phone to your Mac via hotspot.
SOME OTHER IMPROVEMENTS
IOS 8 also has a new appstore and a health app which is quite intreasting.So the phone returns you your health stats and stuff like that.
Recently launched Samsung Galaxy s5 has same type of app.
I doubt its performance but its my point of view others may have conflicting opinions.
So thats it...I know i haven't covered all IOS 8 features but these are some which i found to be interesting.
